The Astro4Dev Full Moon Mashups Are Back!!!
We are thrilled to announce the return of the Astro4Dev Full Moon Mashups! At the OAD, we believe that the challenges we face today cannot be solved in isolation. Each discipline brings its own unique strengths and perspectives, and by combining these, we can unlock new possibilities. The Full Moon Mashups are designed as an open platform where ideas flow freely, creativity takes centre stage, and interdisciplinary collaboration thrives.
Whether you’re an astronomer, an educator, an artist, a healthcare professional, or a policy expert, these mashups offer a space to connect, brainstorm, and build partnerships that drive meaningful impact. Past discussions have sparked creative projects, inspired novel approaches, and strengthened networks across a variety of sectors.

Each session will feature a guided discussion around a specific development theme, followed by open-floor conversations to exchange ideas and collaborate.
The sessions will be hybrid (on Zoom and streamed on Youtube). If you would like to join in on the conversation, please register for the zoom link.

Upcoming sessions
Join us on 14 March 2025 for the next Astro4Dev Full Moon Mashup, where we explore the global impact of mega astronomy infrastructure projects on development. Our guest speaker, Dr. Daniel Mokhohlane, will present key findings from his PhD research, which focused particularly on the rural Northern Cape Province and its role in hosting large-scale astronomy projects such as the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) and the Square Kilometre Array (SKA). His work examines the socio-economic and policy implications of such investments, providing valuable insights into their influence on local development.
The session will begin with a short presentation, followed by an interactive discussion on the role of mega astronomy infrastructure in local communities and their role in driving sustainable growth.
