His Holiness Drikung Kyabgön Chetsang visited OAD project Astronomy for Himalayan Livelihood Creation led by Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE). The project has established Astro Homestays in the villages in the mountains.
The villagers, who have been trained in astronomy, showed His Holiness, Saturn and Jupiter through the recently installed 10 inch Dobsonian Telescope. He appreciated the model of astro homestays and its role in providing auxiliary income to the the villagers through tourism.
The Buddhist monk is the UN Ambassador for Mountain partnerships and respected globally for his work in the development of mountain ecosystems.
